The 2011 Scotland County Fair is just around the corner! This year's fair will be July 5 through July 10, 2011. The week is full of fun activiities, great food, 4-H and FFA exhibits, livestock judging and nightly grandstand events. Mark your calendar for this year's fair.
Last year we were fortunate to have 2 past president's show up at the Queenless Queen Contest. Who knows what will happen this year! The organizer's of this event are not going to reveal their plans at this time. You won't want to miss this!
KMEM and the fair board are once again bringing the Texaco Country Showdown to the Scotland County Fair. Singers will compete to win the competition at the Scotland County Fair and advance to the next level. Interested participants should contact KMEM to sign up for this competion. Mark your calendars for an evening of great entertainment!
On Friday night will be the Craig Campbell concert at 8;30 p.m. with Madd Hoss Jackson opening at 7:00. Craig Campbell's single "Family Man" is climbing the charts! Madd Hoss Jackson is a favorite in the Tri-State area and played at several fairs last year. Advance tickets are available for $12 and will be $15 at the ticket booth. Be sure and get your ticket!
The Mud Bogg will be returning this year to the Scotland County Fair grounds. A & L Mud Bog will be running the event this year. Check in time will be from 9;00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. with the classes starting at 1:30 p.m. promptly. This was a very popular event at the 2010 fair and is expected to be a bigger event at this year's fair. Come out and join us for a fun filled afternoon!
Fun Time Shows will be returning this year to the Scotland County Fair. The carnival will be opening at 6:00 p.m.on Tuesday evening with 8 assorted rides, various games and concessions stands. Advance armbands will go on sale beginning May 9 through July 4 for $15 each. Armbands will be available at the ticket booth each day for $20 each from 6:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m.during the fair. A new armband must be used each day from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Regular tickets may also be purchased at the ticket booth and must be used before 10:00 p.m. each night. There will be a special mantinee on Saturday after noon from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Advance armbands are on sale at Casey's General Store in Memphis.
Three favorites will be returning to the 2011 Scotland County Fair. On Wednesday evening, Twin State Pulling Association will be having a truck and tractor pull starting at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday evening there will be the car races and on Saturday evening, the demolition derby. Don't miss these events!
Friday will also bring the third year for the open livestock shows. This has been a huge success and has brought livestock producers from the Tri State area to this show. For more information you can call Curtis Mallett, 660-341-6297, Brian Kraus, 660-341-3089 or Chris Montgomery, 660-216-0749.
As always, there will be great food, fun entertainment and livestock and art hall projects for your viewing. The beer tent will be open nightly with live musical entertainment following the grandstand events. There will be displays from area organizations and groups providing information on their specific area of interest.
